THE LAW OF LEVITATION

Chapter X

The law of gravity, as Christine Mercie explained so beautifully in her record, "Sons of God," is a very definite law. The law of gravity is truly the law of the earth and of mortality. It is the law of clinging to the things of earth, even one's own pattern of thoughts, ideas, hates, dislikes and evils, even as these negative things cling to the individual when once they have been given the opportunity to take hold. Gravity is also the law of "like cleaving to like". One becomes like the things he gazes upon physically or mentally. People even get to look like their dogs if the association is too close. Gravity is the law of attraction and of possessing and claiming. It is man's mortal, earthly way of thinking and feeling that gives gravity its powers. Gravity's power is held in every dreary, negative, earthly thought, in one's discords, selfishness, greeds, fears, hates, lusts and violence. It is the negative powers of thinking that have bound mankind down with the law of gravity.

The gravitational law is also the power of possessions, or the overwhelming desire for them taking possession of the individual. The more one is held by his possessions the more difficult it is to be released from the law of gravity -- which law, when fulfilled -- is death.

It is not the actual possessions that hold the literal binding power of the law of gravity. It is in man's attitude toward them. It is when possessions are permitted to take over one's life. It is man's erroneous attitude toward things that gives them power over him. When they become the sole purpose of existence, then the possessions possess the individual, he no longer possesses them. If the things of this world were held in their proper place, as incidentals, in the mortal phase of existence and as though unpossessed but belonging entirely to God, there could be no power in them. Instead man would only feel a great reverence and gratitude for being permitted to use them. He would always remember that "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof."

Often it is only death that has the power to pry one's fingers and mind loose from his possessions. And for this reason death has its place.

The complete fulfilling of the law of gravity, as a rule, takes years to work out. It becomes thoroughly established in a very gradual, almost imperceptible way. The buoyancy of youth gives way to sedateness, which is good when not carried into a false dignity. Then there comes a gradual physical decline which is the introduction to old age. This is the dreaded time of sagging muscles, rounded shoulders, dragging feet, of various ailments -- and finally -- death.

And death is the back door into the other world. Death is the fulfilled law of gravity. It brings the fulfillment of all earth's claims. It is the completion of the law of gravity upon the individual who has not overcome it.

Death is the time when mother earth asserts her claim upon the physical structure that has been formed from her elements. She can, and must assert such claims upon every child that has not risen above mortality and developed the spiritual powers contained within himself. The elements within man's being were composed, originally of spirit. These tangible, physical elements can be lifted into a higher vibration, by love and gratitude and praise and divine devotion, back to the exalted Spirit essence of which they were originally composed. This great power to purify and exalt is within every man. It is the Light of Christ that can be brought into manifestation through one's understanding of it, and belief in it, as it is brought into active use.

When one begins to exert his divine powers he can completely spiritualize his being and death will have no claim. When one ignores or neglects his divine prerogative death can assert her claim upon the physical elements that have not been redeemed nor exalted.

Death is that time when the earth opens up her arms to gather back into herself the remains of her unglorified elements. The body is placed in the grave and the earth is folded in over it, as the soul, or spirit is released to go through the back door into the other world. This is the law of gravity, and of earth -- and of death.

But as Christine Mercie explained, this is only the negative end of the pole of man's existence. The opposite end of this pole of the eternal law of God is Spiritual and is, in its completeness the law of levitation -- and of Life.

Levitation is the law used by Phillip after baptizing the eunuch, as given in Acts 8:39, as follows: "And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Phillip, that the eunuch saw him no more; and he (the eunuch) went on his way rejoicing. But Phillip was found at Azotus; and passing through he preached in all the cities."

It is the law Christ used in walking on the Sea of Galilee. It is the divine law of the Light of Christ made manifest in the flesh as the physical body begins to take on the properties of the Spirit and becomes imbued with its powers.

The law of levitation is the power of "Letting Go." It is literally, "leave-a-tation". As one lets go of all physical desires, all earthly claims, even his customary habits of thinking, such as his hates, discords, prides and prejudices, his envyings and strife -- and possessions, he will begin to be filled with their opposites as the divine gifts must replace the ones released. For every releasing of a negative, inferior trait or thought, or physical thing, there is a gift of the Spirit to replace it.

The gifts of the Spirit are varied and many. They are love, patience, goodness, meekness, brotherly kindness, compassion, tenderness, peace and beauty. The powers of these gifts are abundance, understanding, wisdom and infinite power, according to the development of the individual.

As these gifts of the Spirit are brought forth and developed the Spirit will have greater and greater claim upon the individual. Even as all evil thinking gives gravity the power to exert its rightful claim, so too does love fulfill the law of levitation.

Paul's law of Charity as contained in I. Cor. 13:7 is the law of perfect love in action. It is also the law of levitation in its fullness. It is as follows: "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up (with pride), Doth not behave itself unseemingly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh not evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth."

"Charity is the pure love of Christ". This pure Christ-like love is Spirit and when it begins to be made manifest in one's life his joys increase, or his ability to enjoy is intensified. Darkness of mind and thoughts and emotions is automatically overcome. Then as one adds praise and thanks to that love it becomes powerful. His blessings multiply and increase. His singing devotion of boundless love begins to release the hold of gravity upon him.

It is this vibration of exalted glory, of praise and love and thanksgiving that brings forth the great, divine Light of Christ from within. And it is this Light of Christ which contains the fullness of the law of levitation. This divine law is contained in, and fulfilled by the Christ Light.

This Christ Vibration of power and Light contains the great revelation of becoming thankful in all things as one is made glorious. This very vibration is the Unspeakable Name of Jesus Christ. It is the Name of the "Light of Christ that is given to abide in every man who cometh into the world." It is the Name of glory! It is the supreme vibration and ecstasy which is of the Saints, or those who overcome. It is the song of the soul that is contained in the Divine Christ Vibration and no words can express it, no music contain it. It is the eternal, glorified symphony of the Universe. It holds the keys of eternity and the very powers of God.

"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it." And mankind has thought that to ask for some gift, or pray, then close the petition with the phrase, "In the Name of Jesus Christ" it has been fulfilled. It is not just in the spoken Name that one must believe, for it is not in the physical Name that prayers are granted and requests fulfilled, but in that great ineffable Name that cannot be spoken. It is the Name of power that will fulfill all things. This Name is the Christ Vibration of Light. This is the Name that one must take upon himself. The scriptures are filled with a record of the dynamic powers of His Name that have never been fulfilled.

Learn of His Unspeakable, Ineffable, glorious Name and learn to walk in that Name. Learn to hold yourself in the power of that Name and you will know the meaning of every promise and be given the power to fulfill them. This is the Name of Glory, the Vibration of creation, the powers of heaven and earth, "The Light and the Life, the Spirit and the power that will become subject unto you." His Name is the Vibration of eternal power. This is the supreme vibration of ecstasy which is of the Saints. This high vibration of praise and love and gratitude is the very life essence of the Light of Christ which is given to abide in man. It is the power that can fulfill all things. It contains the power to overcome all darkness, cast out all fear and redeem from both sins and weaknesses.

As this Light of Christ, or divine vibration is developed in the individual, it becomes so potent that all difficulties melt before it. It becomes like a ray of power that begins to issue out from the individual who has brought it forth and, when it becomes strong enough, it can make that individual invisible to mortal eyes when, and if, occasion requires. And it is the privilege of the individual to use this Light of Christ to fulfill the degree of his needs at all times and in all conditions. As one fulfills this higher law and obtains the fulness of this Light of Christ the law of levitation becomes active in his life. The first manifestation of this power is the awareness that tiredness has been overcome in the physical body. As It becomes a part of one's life Its powers increase.

To those who have opened their understandings to comprehend that Name and learn to use their God-given rights to bring forth that divine Light of Christ within themselves, the powers of that Light Vibration must begin to be made manifest. This is how one becomes "Anointed with Light". This is the fulfillment of the promise of the name of "Jesus Christ", which name means, "I shall be powerful when I am anointed with Light." This divine Christ Vibration, when brought forth in the individual, is the fulfillment of that Name.

It is up to each man whether he is willing to take upon him that Name or not. It is the only name under heaven whereby a man can be saved. It is the vibration of all love, all power, all forgiveness and all glory.

That Christ-ray, or Vibration, or Christ Light, when developed within an individual is his anointing. One who has developed It and brought It forth from within himself can send It out from his own being as a ray that will appear to his eyes as solid and real as steel. It is along this glorified Christ ray, issuing out of his own being, that makes it possible for one to travel forth to any directed spot with the speed of Light.

When one has developed this vibration of power, this divine Light of Christ, and learned to use it, through love and reverence and a devotion beyond anything that any mere physical being has ever tried to comprehend, he will use it to serve a world, whenever and however needed. He will become absolutely selfless in his service.

Those who have this Christ Light manifest to any degree whatsoever become truly vibrant. Those who have it not are dull and uninteresting, no matter how much they know or even how witty they may appear. These lifeless unanimated ones are the ones of whom Christ said, "Let the dead bury their dead."

Those who are filled with the divine Christ Vibration of love and praise and gratitude are always vibrant. They become increasingly vital, alive and more beautiful. This very vibration keeps one young.

As one learns to hold himself in that divine Vibration of Light he triumphs completely over the darkness. It can no longer touch him. This Light within him can become so great that he leaves no shadow. And he becomes the Light.

It is a simple thing to "overcome the evils in one's life". All the higher principles, or laws, are most exacting and sure. They cannot fail. To overcome the evils is just a continuance of the idea of seeing no lack as the song of gratitude is developed. See the blessings and glorify God for them and they will begin to multiply.

In removing the evils, acknowledge nothing as a burden, a trial, a calamity, or as an evil. Accept them as being desired blessings direct from the hand of the Almighty which contain your tests and mayhap your graduation papers. As you accept any heartbreak in this manner it will be immediately transmuted and your evils will soon be overcome. You will reach the point of faith where every doubt and fear will be banished. This is the point of power. It is the point where one truly walks with God, or where one is wrapped in the power and glory of his Maker and is caught up to dwell with Him.

Live these higher laws and you will know of their power and their truth. You will know that self-pity and complaining are the most detrimental conditions possible to the soul.
