THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

Chapter II

This record is to reveal the hidden powers held within the soul of man. Within these pages is contained the knowledge of what these powers are and how to bring them into use. This is quite necessary if man is to rise up to the equal of his own inventions and no longer stand dwarfed and impotent before the mechanical offspring of his brain.

Man has truly brought forth inventions to stagger the imagination. But he is ruled by his own inventions. Man, himself, is more weak and helpless than were his ancestors before him. He, like the adolescent who gets into his "Hopped up jalopy" and pressing the accelerator to the floor, misthinks that that power is his. Or like the gangster, or hold-up man who thinks he is strong and mighty because he holds a gun in his hand. In such cases man is not the master. Man is only the tool in the control of the machine or invention he is manipulating. The car, the machine or invention he is operating is the strength and man is being handled by it as he becomes less and less powerful in his own puny strength, or rather, lack of it.

Man has become dwarfed and almost completely ineffectual by the very magnitude of his own mechanical creations.

And so this record comes forth in answer to that echoing cry issuing from the souls of men. This record contains the answer to that desperate plea of the soul for a way of escape or expression.

This record is to reveal to man his own powers that he might cast off his worn-out rags of mortal concepts and become at least as great as his stupendous brain-children, his mechanical offspring.

It is the hidden powers contained within man himself that must be fathomed and developed. It is these hidden faculties that will become the powers of the future. As man steps forth to fill a new role in his glorified progress his inventions will become only secondary, for man himself will become the greatest marvel of all. He will be amazed at himself and wonder at his having slept so long in his enfolding cocoon, with wings unspread.

In his present, degenerate, animal state, man thinks that to be powerful would demand that he have power over other men, not necessarily over himself. Hitler, Stalin and all dictators and false "would be" men of power have sought in this way to be great. Their every effort has been to enslave the race of men. They have all failed. Such men will always fail.

This dictator idea of power is not the power of which this book deals. It is to end such dreams of selfishness and evil and the madness of conquest of peoples and nations and men that this book is written. It is to place the keys of power in every man's hands, not in the hands of the few who become madmen in their greedy desire for it. The greed for power is even greater than the greed for gold and much more dangerous when that greed is to take over the lives of men. This is not the kind of power with which this book deals. That power which seeks to destroy the free-agency of man is gross darkness.

The power with which this book is concerned is the power of conquest, it is true. But it is not for the conquest of other men's minds, nor of peoples, nor nations, nor worlds. This power is of light and is divine. It comes forth with man's conquest of himself as he learns of his own hidden possibilities and begins to use them for the glory, rather than the enslavement of a world.

"Oh man, know you not that you are a temple of the Living God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" Know you not that within you lie hidden all the powers of eternity? Do you not realize that you are not just a physical, earthly mortal cast upon a seemingly forgotten world by some capricious happenstance? Do you not realize that within you is contained all that the Father has?

It is true that, along with all the animals, you have a physical body composed of the elements of the earth. And within you is contained every animal appetite, until overcome. There may still be that instinct of the birds, to snatch up every morsel of food in sight and hie off with it lest your neighbor have the opportunity to share. Yes, it is true that every animal trait and instinct possessed by the beasts can also be man's if he makes no effort to be more than animal. But man has a divine heritage locked within himself, that no animal possesses.

Yes. Man has more than any animal! Much more! Man has a divine soul and a mind endowed with the power of reasoning, of selecting and choosing. He has the power to sacrifice and WILL, which no animal has. To man is given the divine equipment to rule over every animal instinct and to subdue and exalt them into divine strength. He has powers no animal could possibly possess. Man has powers linked with heaven and glorified by intelligence.

Within man is the complete power to exalt his own mortality and by so doing enter immortality, not by going through that back door of death, which even the animals share, but by opening the portals of heaven and stepping through that great front door into his divinity. Within man is truly the power "To evolve from the man kingdom into the God kingdom." Man alone has such powers. Man alone has within himself embryoed divinity, though neglected and unfulfilled.

One of the powers contained within man is his access to the very "Fountain of Youth" which Ponce DeLeon spent his life seeking. It is the same fountain the world is searching for in its rushing to beauty parlors and the constant purchasing of expensive cosmetics and beauty aids with their false, fabulous claims. Ponce DeLeon's search was in vain even as is the modern search futile and wasted.

The "Fountain of Youth" is not on the outside, but is within. "The Waters of Life" which Christ invited all to partake of freely are right within man, not in the without. And this "Living Water" is the Fountain of Life, or Youth, if you desire.

The power of this invitation, held out to a world, to partake of the "Waters of Life freely", is contained within that "Light of Christ which is given to abide in every man who cometh into the world." This Light contains the seed of youth, the power of renewal, of quickening, even of Life Eternal. It is the very power of God that is given to abide in man.

Read the following quotation slowly and carefully that it might be completely digested and so fill you with the strength of its substance: "The WORD of the Lord is truth; and whatsoever is truth is Light; and whatsoever is light is Spirit, even the Spirit of Jesus Christ", "Which is given to abide in every man who cometh into the world."

In the seventh Ode Of Solomon, that ancient holy one stated, "For the dwelling place of the WORD is man; and its truth is love."

This Light of Christ, or Spirit of Jesus Christ, is the "WORD" that was made flesh, or placed in the physical body of every mortal man. It is also the TRUTH that will make man free if he will only seek to know It or comprehend It. "Know the Truth and the Truth will make you free, and he who is free shall be free indeed!" And he who receives this freedom will be released from every mortal harassment, every lack, every physical defect and worry, every determent, sin, weakness, all negation and from the powers of darkness which include his fears and ignorance. This is the great freedom that comes to every man who knows the TRUTH. And he who possesses this freedom will likewise desire it for all. His life will receive a new dedication that will reach beyond earth, beyond mortality and into the divine as he steps forth into the Light of knowing. And knowledge is power.

This "Light of Christ that is given to abide in every man who cometh into the world" is an essential to man's well being, his happiness and true development as is the sunshine to the world. It is this Light from within that, when understood and brought forth, contains all the powers of joy, happiness, abundance, success and knowledge. It is the greatest gift with which every human being was unreservedly endowed. No animals possess this gift, but he who rejects it is more closely related to the animals than to the gods. Every man has his right to reject or develop and use this Light. It holds the keys to every problem, the answer to every question and the power to overcome every difficulty. This Light has access to all abundance and to all wisdom and all power. And it is every man's to use.

By turning to this Light of Christ, within, one will reach the point of excellence wherein he will speak no word except it is given him of God. At this stage one is given wisdom and direction in every move of life. This is the point where one has truly learned to "Ask, Seek and Knock" as he turns within for council and direction. This Light of Christ is the "Wonderful! Counselor!" mentioned in Isaiah chapter nine. It is this Light of Christ that becomes more and more wonderful as one uses it. It is also the greatest Counselor, first as the "Still Small Voice" of one's own conscience, and finally in Its complete, loving companionship of divine power and constant direction. This divine Counselor has the keys of all-knowing and the perfect knowledge concerning all things. It is pure Wisdom and Light. This Mighty Counselor will direct every word and act when called upon and permitted to do so.

This Light of Christ is the WORD that will be made flesh as It becomes a part of one's own being. As one accepts this Light and brings It forth he will become as mighty as It is.

Even the silent waiting of man as he turns inward toward this Light for his answers, will soon mark him as a wise man. The very vibrations that go out from him as he lingers in his word, or act, to turn inward, will be felt by all he contacts. Thus his vibrations will become more and more potent and will be felt by all. His answers will always be correct and wise, even as Christ's were. If he goes no higher than this he will still become known as a wise man.

However, it is much easier to go from this point of attainment onward than it was to reach this point. From here on each step of the Way becomes easier and more clearly defined and beautiful. And to be truly a wise man demands that one complete the journey into the very realms of Light, or brings forth that Light of Christ in Its fulness, or until one is filled with it.

This Light of Christ that is given to abide in every man is each man's personal guide and director. This Christ Light is also each individual's personal Redeemer as he is given power to overcome his weaknesses and sins, his errors and mistakes. And it is this Light, as it is brought forth from within, that has the power to purify and cleanse.

"This is the Christ Light which shineth, which giveth you light, which is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understanding.

"Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space --

"The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, EVEN THE POWER OF GOD, Who sitteth upon His throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things."

This Light of Christ that lighteth every man who cometh into the world IS THE POWER OF GOD. This Light of Christ is "The Spirit that giveth light to every man that cometh into the world; and this Spirit, or Light of Christ enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit. And everyone that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit cometh unto God, even the Father." And in time he will be prepared, through the developing of this Light to receive "THE FULNESS OF THE FATHER."

If one desires to receive the power to overcome, the power to do the works which He did, even the power to fulfill all things, then he must believe in this great, divine Light of Christ, which has been given to abide in him. He must seek to bring it forth with its purifying, cleansing powers of glorious redemption. Only this Christ Light can lead one to the Father, or reveal the knowledge of Him. And this is the knowledge that holds the keys of Life Eternal.

This Christ Light IS THE POWER which has been promised from the beginning to those who believe. If you would be powerful then you will have to believe in this Light and begin to comprehend It and bring It forth in your life.

As one begins to understand this Light and Its powers, and realizes that It is truly given to abide in himself, It will begin to change his life, lifting him from a mere mortal to the status of an immortal through Its powers of redemption, of revealing, enfolding, healing, fulfilling All-ness of glory.

In the book "Ye Are Gods" there is a whole chapter explaining the meaning and power of the NAME "Jesus Christ". It explains that the name "Jesus" means, "I shall be powerful". And the title "Christ" means "Anointed" or "Anointed with Light." There is given also the scripture which declares that man must take upon himself that name, or the divine promise, which is literally, "I shall be powerful when I am anointed with Light." And since this Light of Christ, which has been given to abide in every man who cometh into the world, and enlightens every man in the world who will only hearken to It and bring It forth in his life, is THE POWER OF GOD, then man can only become powerful as he becomes "Anointed with that Light."

"And now, behold this is wisdom, whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also; for unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, EVEN POWER!"

Believe in this Light of Christ! Begin to comprehend Its purpose and powers and Its divine reality and the power to receive It in Its fulness will be developed until that great Christ door can be completely opened and you become powerful as you are "Anointed with Light!"

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock, and any man who heareth my voice, and OPENETH THAT DOOR, behold, I will come in and feast with him, and he with me." After one has learned to hear His voice, and to follow it, by directing his attention upon it, he will finally reach that great Christ door. It is man's part to learn to listen, and to follow that voice or inner direction, until that great door is revealed. And it is also man's part to OPEN THAT DOOR. When that Christ door is opened, one receives a fulness of Light, or is filled with Light and there is no darkness in him and he is given all power, "Both in heaven and on earth, for all things become subjected unto him, both the Light and the Life, the Spirit and the Power, sent forth by the Father, through Jesus Christ, His Son."

These are the powers that go with the promise of the Name of "Jesus Christ", which man is admonished to believe in, for any who believe in His Name will be given the power to fulfill that Name, or to bring forth that Light of Christ from within, with all Its unspeakable powers. Thus one becomes powerful.

The Christ door is the door of consciousness or awareness. It is also the door of conscience. He who has dulled the voice of conscience by refusing to give heed to it has rejected completely that divine Light of Christ and is truly under condemnation, for the guilt of his every sin is his own to bear without the redemptive powers of the Christ Light being permitted to bring forth the divine cleansing so necessary for forgiveness and overcoming. In such the powers of forgiveness cannot possibly operate. He who closes his ears to "The Still Small Voice" of conscience has closed his ears to the voice of Christ -- "For if any man hear my voice and open that door I will come in and feast with him, and he with me."

If one fails to listen to the voice of conscience, even in the smallest, most minute things, he is rejecting the Light of Christ and will never be able to follow It until he reaches that great Christ door, nor will he even comprehend that there is such a door, which is his to open into the very realms of Light, that he might be anointed with Light, even filled with It, that he might receive all power. That inner voice within each man is the voice of Christ which, if a man follows, will fill him with Light that he shall comprehend all things.

There is no weakness so great, be it physical, mental, moral or spiritual that cannot be overcome by giving heed to that voice of conscience, or the voice of Christ, within. As one gives heed to that voice within he will be given power to OVERCOME. This Light of Christ is the power by which all things are overcome. It is the Light and the power by which one grows from grace to grace, even until he can receive a FULLNESS OF THE FATHER. This is how one can overcome all things and become POWERFUL!
