Chapter XIV

The Love for God

In Romans, chapter eight and verses thirty-five to thirty-nine, it so beautifully states: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

"As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter?

"Nay! BUT IN ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERERS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US.

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

"Nor heights, nor depths, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!"

In that thirty-ninth verse, it states, "Nor any other creature," meaning no individual or being save ourselves can ever separate us from the divine, powerful, holy love of God after we have begun to comprehend, accept of it, and appreciate it.

This witness was given to Daniel of old twice. Dan. 9:21-23: "Yes, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision, at the beginning * * * touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

"And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O, Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.

"At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved; therefore understand the matter and consider the vision."

Then in Daniel, ten, verses four to twelve, is given this information: "And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

"Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz;

"His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet in color to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

"And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them so that they fled and hid themselves.

"Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

"Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

"And behold a hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

"And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken, I stood trembling.

"Then said he unto me, fear not, Daniel, FOR FROM THE FIRST DAY THAT THOU DIDST SET THY HEART TO UNDERSTAND AND TO CHASTEN THYSELF BEFORE GOD, THY WORDS WERE HEARD, and I am come for thy words."

From the first moment of Daniel's desire to turn all his love and attention to God his words were accepted and heard. And so it is with every individual who abides by that desire and directs his life in accordance with it.

This contact with God is not made through any personal desire to have God verify or approve of the beliefs one has already espoused, but the contact establishes the time when the individual is willing to turn his life over to God. This is the point when one is prepared to be taught of God!

And as Daniel was chosen and accepted from the FIRST DAY of his yielding so it is with every human being upon this earth. As one opens up his heart to KNOW AND TO UNDERSTAND TRUTH, he begins to sanctify his life and his love for God, so that nothing henceforth can separate him from that love. It is when one's own love for God becomes as certain and sure as God's love is for him that brings the full flow of Life Eternal into his being and transforms it into the Life Divine and he will be "Born of the Spirit!" And will fulfill all things!

At the beginning of this chapter is stressed that precious, divine love which God has for us, a love that nothing can destroy or influence. Now, for a moment let us reverse that love, not from Christ to us, but from us to Christ and we will have the full understanding of our own advancement into glory.

As one fulfills that First and Great Commandment, or from the first day he sets his heart to fulfill that LOVE it will begin to become his own. It will be established within him. This is how one opens that contact with God. As one continues along this glorious path of OVERCOMING (all his hates and discords and doubts and negation) he not only generates that love and sends it forth, he, in time, WILL BECOME THAT LOVE! "He has interpreted the very wonder of God and becomes that which he has interpreted."

Then is the power of LOVE made manifest right within man. He no longer thinks of this love as God's love for him, but rather as his love for God. And in this knowledge is the pathway of fulfilling. Such a one could never be lonely, unwanted, friendless or a failure. He will walk in majesty and be clothed in light. And like Daniel, though a slave, rose to the highest position and honors next to the King, though a captive and in bondage in a strange land.

This same condition was also experienced by Joseph, years before, who was sold into slavery by his brothers.

It matters not in the least how hopeless one's condition might be, "if God is with him, none can be against him!"

And he who develops this LOVE so that nothing can separate him from this love he has for God, neither tribulation, nor distress, nor persecution, nor hunger, nor nakedness, nor ragged apparel, nor peril, nor sword, "Will have proved that he is determined to serve God at all HAZARDS, and will reach the point of FAITH where he will be wrapped in the power and glory of his Maker and will be caught up to dwell with Him."

Then truly, can "neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor heights, nor depths, nor any other creature (with all their guiles and evils) be able to separate," him from that love which he has developed for God, through Jesus Christ. He will have fulfilled that First and great Commandment and glorified it and HIMSELF. He will have fulfilled all and will obtain all the knowledge and the rewards of the greatest prophets who ever existed on this earth.

This is how the great fulfilling is accomplished. And man's perfected love will be glorified and transmuted into Eternal Light and power and Everlasting Life.

This is how one "IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT in which he can henceforth come and go as the wind and no one will know from whence he came or whither he goeth" as an ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ giving service according to the GREATER WORKS.

All these Promises are for THIS LIFE as one BELIEVES and "lays hold" of them. They are for the Great Eternal NOW and not for the "Afar-off" -- after death. They are the laws used in which one can "change his carnal flesh to flesh divine without descending through the gates of death."
